The South Florida Business Journal, Miami Heat stars Wade, Haslem to launch restaurant in Aventura

Miami Heat stars Dwyane Wade and Udonis Haslem announced they’re partnering on their first venture: 800° Woodfired Kitchen in Aventura.

Coming to 2956 Aventura Blvd. this fall, the 4,000-square-foot restaurant will seat 125 and feature a full bar, pizza, salads and bowls, rotisserie meats and woodfired appetizers among its offerings.

Wade and Haslem recently launched a company named Forty-Three. 800° is the company’s first venture and the brand’s first Florida location. Founded by chef Anthony Carron, it already operates sites in Los Angeles; Las Vegas; Tokyo; Dubai; and Doha, Qatar. Upcoming locations include Seoul, South Korea and other U.S. cities.

Haslem, a three-time National Basketball Association (NBA) champion and co-team captain for the Miami Heat, is a franchisee of five Subways and two Auntie Anne’s Pretzels locations in the tri-county region. He’s a partner of food and beverage company JFC Miami, which operates Starbucks and Einstein Bros. Bagels locations on Jackson Memorial Hospital’s campus and at MiamiCentral, the Miami station of the Brightline passenger train.

Wade, a three-time NBA Champion with the Miami Heat, a 12-time NBA All-Star and an Olympic Gold medalist, said in a video that professional athletes eat a certain way, specifically during the season. Although he normally feels heavy after eating pizza, that wasn’t the case after his first visit to an 800° restaurant.

“I went through five to six slices, and I [felt] great,” said Wade, whose other partnerships include Gatorade, watch brand Hublot and sportswear brand Li-Ning.
